Camp Leader Position

Duration: June 29 – August 7, 2026 (6 weeks)

Seasonal Full time (37.5 hours/week)

In person

$18.00/hour

Reports to Program Manager

Responsibilities:

  1. Plans and provides a stimulating, fast-paced leisure program for participants (games, drama, arts & crafts, special events, etc.)

  2. Coordinates site administrative duties including program summary charts

  3. Supervises children during daily activities and maintains attendance records

  4. Assists coordinators with program & administrative duties

  5. Mentors Youth Leadership Development Program volunteers

  6. Ensures a safe and enjoyable environment

  7. Maintains rules with appropriate and consistent behaviour management measures

 

Qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in English (verbal and written).

  • Must be between 15 - 30 years of age (in accordance with program funding requirements).

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Ontario, with valid Canadian citizenship, permanent resident, or protected/refugee status.

  • Must have a clear and valid Vulnerable Sector Police check issued within the past six months (or willingness to obtain).

  • Completion of secondary education (high school) is preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience working with children or youth in a camp, classroom, community, or programmatic setting.

  • Strong organizational, time management, communication, and basic reporting skills.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently, with a positive and responsible attitude.

  • First Aid and/or CPR certification is considered an asset (or willingness to obtain).

  • Ability to speak additional languages such as Arabic, Urdu, Pashto, Hindi, or others is an asset.

  • Understanding of, or willingness to learn about, cultural and spiritual sensitivity and community-based work.

  • Reliable, punctual, and able to model appropriate behaviour for children and youth.
