Purpose and Significance of the Event

The Empower & Elevate Gala, hosted by Muslim Social Services of Waterloo Region (MSSWR), was conceived as an awards ceremony to honor outstanding community builders who have made Waterloo Region more inclusive, caring, and resilient. It was the first event of its kind for MSS – an inaugural “Community Builders Awards Gala” – highlighting the important contributions of both Muslim and non-Muslim individuals in fostering a healthy community.
